TCF exam 2025

Planning to certify your proficiency in the French language? Taking the TCF (Test de Connaissance du Français) exam is an excellent way to achieve that goal.

Understanding the exam process and preparing in advance can make all the difference. Here’s everything you need to know about the TCF exam and how to take it in 2025.

What is the TCF exam

The Test de Connaissance du Français (TCF) is a widely recognized French language proficiency test. It is administered by the French Ministry of Education and conducted by France Éducation International. The TCF is specifically designed for non-native French speakers and evaluates their skills in listening, reading, speaking, and writing.

Whether you need proof of your language ability for academic pursuits, immigration, or professional qualifications, the TCF is a trusted and flexible option.

The TCF is available in several specialized versions tailored to different needs:

  • TCF “tout public”: This general version of the TCF is ideal for academic, professional, or personal certification. It is also required for early admission requests (DAP) to French universities.
  • TCF – Integration, Residence and Nationality: Designed for individuals applying for French citizenship, this test assesses the required language level for integration.
  • TCF – Canada: A tailored test for individuals seeking economic immigration or citizenship in Canada.
  • TCF – Québec: Specifically for those applying for permanent immigration to Québec, this version evaluates your proficiency in French.
