Choosing the right French language school is really important for international students.

A good strategy is to look for schools with the FLE label and/or the Bienvenue en France label, as these two accreditations are given by the French authorities to the very best schools.

What is the FLE label?

The FLE (Français Langue Étrangère) label is awarded by the French government to language schools for excellence in teaching French to non-native speakers.

The label is valid for 4 years. To maintain it, schools must undergo a renewal process that includes an on-site independent audit.

This label focuses on 5 key areas:

  1. French Courses: Courses are designed to meet students’ linguistic needs and follow the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
  2. Teachers: Schools employ qualified and competent teachers.
  3. Support: Schools provide comprehensive guidance to help students choose the right program, support integration into the school and local environment, and offer accommodation assistance and cultural activities.
  4. Facilities: Schools provide a well-maintained, safe, and comfortable learning environment. Students have access to high-quality facilities and equipment.
  5. Management: Schools provide clear information about their commitment to quality and professional ethics.

What is the Bienvenue en France label?

The Bienvenue en France label is awarded by Campus France to schools that provide exceptional support to international students.

It evaluates schools across 5 key areas:

  1. Accessibility of Information: Schools clearly describe programs and diplomas, manage international student applications online via the “Études en France” platform.
  2. Welcome Services: Schools provide comprehensive reception services to assist with administrative procedures (Préfecture, OFII, CROUS, Banks, Healthcare, Transportation, etc.).
  3. Course Accessibility: Schools develop programs in English and use digital tools to share course materials online, allowing students to interact remotely with teachers.
  4. Campus Life: Schools have a dedicated housing department and buddy systems in place to ensure international students have a smooth and supportive campus life.
  5. Post Graduation: Schools connect students with local companies and organizations for jobs or internships, and integrate international students into alumni networks to maintain ongoing professional connections.
