Properly submitting your student visa application is crucial, but don’t worry, we’re here to help you navigate this step with confidence.

In this guide, we’ll walk you through each section of the student visa application form, so you’ll know exactly what to expect when it’s time to submit your application.

Where to submit your visa application?

To find out where you should submit your visa application, go to: https://france-visas.gouv.fr/en/place-of-submission

Select your region and country to find the local visa center, embassy, or consulate responsible for processing your application.

Most embassies accept applications from 3 months to 2 weeks before your planned departure.

We recommend starting the process with us about 5 to 6 months in advance. Use the first 2 to 3 months to confirm school enrollment, secure accommodation, and book your flight. Then, submit your visa application as soon as the 3-month window opens.

Online visa application forms

Here is a breakdown of all the different forms you’ll have to go through and some tips:

Form 1: Your plans

In this section, you’ll provide information about your planned stay in France.

For a long-stay student visa, you’ll typically select:

  • Visa type requested: Long-stay (>90 days)
  • Your plans: Study
  • Main purpose of stay: Student

Form 2: Your information

Here, you’ll enter your personal details: full name, place and date of birth, nationality, sex, marital status, postal address, email address, current company or school information, etc.

Make sure to enter your information exactly as it appears on your passport and other supporting documents. Even small discrepancies, like missing accents or spelling differences, can cause delays.

Form 3: Your last visa

In this section, you’ll provide information about any previous visas or stays in France or the Schengen Area.

Be sure the dates and details exactly match the visas, entry stamps, and exit stamps in your passport.

Form 4: Your stay

This section is about the logistics of your stay in France. You’ll need to provide your planned date of arrival and departure and intended length of stay.

If you are subject to the Études en France procedure, this is also where you’ll enter your EEF number (provided after your Campus France interview).

Form 5: Your contacts

This is the final section, you’re almost done!

You’ll need to enter your future address in France. Make sure it exactly matches the one on your accommodation certificate.

You’ll also be asked to indicate your means of subsistence. If you have a financial guarantor, such as a parent, you’ll need to provide their full name. If this applies to you, make sure the name you enter exactly matches the name on your guarantor’s proof of income.
